Since then, it has matured to be one of Europe’s most renowned competitions. Every year its results show exceptional quality, diversity, and unique style offering the best of contemporary nature photography across all subjects. In creative image compositions, surprising subjects and unusual perspectives the results of this competition display the nature around us in touching images and support the idea of nature conservation through the means of photography. Authenticity is the highest precept for all photographs.
Let’s get started – on 15 January 2022!
Photographs can be entered into ten different categories: Birds, Mammals, Other Animals, Plants and Fungi, Landscapes, The Underwater World, Man and Nature, Nature’s Studio, Young Photographers and the category Fritz Pölking Prize, which is a category of its own within this competition!

Award ceremony, exhibition, media
All award-winning images will be shown as large-format prints in an exhibition which will have its premiere at the International Nature Photography Festival in Lünen (28.10. – 30.10.2022; the realization of the festival depends significantly on the pandemic development) and will then be presented to millions of visitors in museums, galleries and at festivals across Germany and Europe for several years.
