PADI® and GoPro are teaming up to rally people around the world to dive in and make a statement for ocean conservation with the first-ever Underwater Selfie Day. On Saturday, 7 November 2020, we’re challenging people to take their best underwater selfie (or share one from a past adventure), showcasing the world they want to save so they (and future generations) can continue to seek adventure into the future. Participants will have a chance to win some great prizes in the process.
By flooding social media with amazing underwater photos and videos for one day, together we’re putting a spotlight on our connection to the ocean – showing millions of people around the world just how incredible it really is and why it’s worth protecting.
This collaborative event is designed to put diving top-of-mind among new adventurous audiences, raise awareness about diving availability right now and bring attention to the importance of ocean conservation.
How to make the most of Underwater Selfie Day:
- Post your own underwater selfie (photo or video) from your favorite dive site to Facebook, Instagram or Twitter on 7 November 2020. It’s a great reason to share fun diving photos for a great cause, and excite your divers about diving in with you. Be sure to tag PADI and GoPro with #underwaterselfieday because we’ll be sharing our favorites and giving away $2,000 US and three new GoPro HERO9 cameras!
- Invite your divers to post their selfies and tag you, your dive shop and the dive site. Whether you’re their local dive pro or shop, or a favorite resort destination, you’ll benefit from the wonderful social media exposure.
- And if your divers don’t have a selfie already (or want an excuse for a new one), let them know there’s still time to schedule a dive with you to snap one.
- Help your divers get prepared and earn additional revenue. Offer the PADI Digital Underwater Photographer Specialty course in the classroom or with PADI eLearning®. And if you’re a GoPro dealer, consider leveraging the day to sell a new camera to your divers.
