My PADI Helps Me…EXPAND MARKET SHARE

Q: What business challenge did you face?

Responding to Customer Demand

A: Our geographical area doesn’t have many PADI centers, and we were getting calls from individuals interested in becoming a PADI Open Water Diver. We knew we needed to offer PADI to meet the demand we were seeing in the market.  

Q: What was your concern in switching to PADI?

No Downside!

A: I didn’t see a downside to trying PADI at all. I’ve personally taken courses from many agencies in the United States. Any shop that isn’t willing to explore is lessening their ability to improve and have a strong presence. 

Q: How did PADI help you solve the problem?

Personlized Support

A: Our PADI Regional Manager took about three days to help us in the store. We also prepped with virtual meetings ahead of time to make sure we had everything ready.

In addition to fulfilling the need to offer PADI courses in our market, the PADI AWARE program was super important for us to utilize. Our primary dive club focuses on volunteer outreach to the community and provides training to youth and underserved/disenfranchised communities. At the heart of our dive community is the planning and adapting of cleanup areas for the aquatic environment. PADI AWARE helps our large group of volunteers track the trash, how much is coming up on shore, and how to clean and separate it. 

When it came time for our crossover to PADI, I reached out to this community to be a part of the process because we needed some volunteers to act as students in the instructor scenarios. I invited several Divemasters who jumped at the chance to be here with our visiting PADI Course Director. While pretending to be students, they saw what it takes to become a PADI Instructor, and it encouraged them to want to become PADI Professionals.

Q: How is it working now?

A Steadily Full Pipeline of Referrals!

A: Our crossover helped fill our pipeline with future potential PADI Pros by having volunteer divers participate! After the initial boost from crossing over to PADI, we’re seeing a lot of referrals find us because PADI drives them straight to us from padi.com.

Q: What’s your advice to others facing a similar challenge?

Expect Higher Quality of Students, Too!

A: We’ve noticed with our new pool partnership and adding PADI to our mix, we’ve set higher quality expectations, and we’re creating better students. We’ve seen a huge increase in overall buoyancy and diver competency. Utilizing PADI’s tools, we’re building more confident and safer divers. There is no risk in trying PADI, we’ve only experienced more referrals and the ability to use high-quality instruction tools.
