New Digital Divemaster Application Process

On 30 January 2025, a new digital PADI® Divemaster Application (English – beta test) process will be available*. The process is a fully online digital experience developed with flexibility in mind, so it’s adaptable no matter how you organize your PADI Divemaster courses.

The PADI Member (instructor/dive center) begins the process by assigning the application to the divemaster candidate. Candidates must already have a PADI account. If not, they must create one before you can initiate their Divemaster Application. The system will search for the candidate’s account, then connect it to the application.

The candidate then completes their portion of the application, after which it is returned to the member. Because the application goes to the candidate then is returned, it’s a good idea to start the application early in the training process.

Upon course completion, the PADI Member enters the certification details and the digital application is submitted for payment and processing. Conveniently, the application allows for payment to come from the candidate, instructor or center. This clearly defines who is paying, which avoids misunderstandings between candidates and instructors/centers, and it allows for a more secure payment process.

At the end of January, on the PADI Pros’ Site, under Student Management, you’ll find a new Application Management choice. This system uses the same design elements as the DSD Participant Management system and lives outside of the PADI Online Processing Center (OLPC).

You will be able to manage candidate applications from this one central location.

The process is mobile responsive and there are several automated steps built in, which allows for quicker processing.

Key Changes

There is no requirement to submit prerequisite certifications/decals by attaching them to the application.

  • PADI Instructors have always been required to ensure divemaster candidates meet all the course prerequisites prior to enrolling in the program, as well as all exit requirements before submitting the completed application form. Now those copies and records should be kept in the candidate’s file as per usual PADI administrative requirements.
  • PADI Regional Training Consultants continue to be available to help determine if a non-PADI certification meets the required prerequisite.

The paper Divemaster Application Form (10144) has been revised to match this new administrative process.

To assist in tracking that the candidate meets all prerequisites and certification requirements, the Divemaster Candidate Information and Evaluation Form (10147) has also been revised and is now required for use. (See the article in the latest Training Bulletin.)

Application-fee payments will now be taken via a secure online payment processing system and includes options for using a credit card, PayPal or wire transfer.
